Genous
Clean tech | Stakeholder Engagement | Reputation audit
Context
Decarbonising and retrofitting homes is a significant challenge for net zero. Genous was founded to simplify this process. It is the first carbon reduction service of its kind, providing customers with accurate analysis on the carbon footprint of their homes and offering expert advice and a bespoke concierge service on cutting emissions.
Seahorse was asked to test Genous’ offer with key market stakeholders and stress test the company’s messaging before going live.
Our activity
Prior to its public launch, Seahorse carried out a full audit of Genous’ existing messaging across their website and launch materials, including 17 stakeholder interviews including tech providers, major banks, parliamentarians, and consumer organisations. This helped identify how the service could stand up to scrutiny.
We have since also worked with Genous to set up direct meetings with key stakeholders including Labour Ministers, energy companies, leading civil servants, and parliamentarians, to facilitate discussions about the challenges and opportunities for retrofitting homes and encourage policy change.
Our impact
This work helped establish Genous as a thought leader in this sector ahead of public launch. Following our process and stakeholder outreach, the CEO was invited to give evidence to the Committee responsible for scrutinising energy and home heating policy in the UK, creating a significant opportunity to influence change.
